Joy
I was having a short chat with
Soham Das, a fellow
Post to Post member, when he mentioned that his joy came from photography. I don't know many people who go around talking about their sources of joy, so that was pretty interesting.
And it got me thinking: what is my joy?
Aside from acting like a kid now and then.
1) My relationship with God. I can't explain the overwhelming happiness I get out of this. Knowing Someone up there loves me so much and will continue to do so no matter what I do is freeing. It's my reason for getting up each morning.
2) Learning Chemical Engineering things. I've chosen to be happy about every bit of information I can wring out of my college major. I'm learning new interesting things that force my mind to stretch its capacities. Yes, it's challenging and sometimes tiring. The positives outweigh the negatives though; what's not to like about that?
3) My family and friends. They strengthen me, and remind me to loosen up a little. They're just always there.
4) My pets. My dogs. My cat. The way animals get really excited about the little things --- like how my dogs will go crazy with excitement when I get home from school --- reminds me to enjoy every bit of life.
5) My graphic design hobby. I've always been passionate about my art. Even before I cracked open that 800-page Adobe Photoshop manual that led me to where I am now.
Making that list has made me even more grateful for the things I have now.
So, dear Reader. What's your joy?

So I'm Daisy (or fedora_girl)
I'm (naturally) wearing the fedora.
I'm a Chemical Engineering student --- getting that degree sometimes involves putting my brain through a strainer --- who also enjoys living life and eating like every meal is my last meal.
I'm a child of God, and that gives my life meaning.
I adore my family and friends. We spend a lot of time together, so they occasionally come up in my posts.
I also take pictures, do computer work, and scribble. I use Adobe Photoshop for long periods of time, and design blogs. I submit most of my good photos and drawings in
my DeviantArt account, and my blog designs in
my Blogskins account.
I read a lot. My favorite books of all time are the Holy Bible,
Pride & Prejudice,
The Scarlet Pimpernel,
The Boy Who Could Fly,
The Nanny, &
Charlie & The Chocolate Factory.
I don't like watching TV because I feel it gives me wrong ideas about the real world. I'm partial to period dramas, musicals and other good movies though. A few that I like are
Pride & Prejudice (2005 version),
North & South (a BBC TV drama),
Facing The Giants,
Sixteen Candles, &
Singin' In The Rain.
I love music; I like a lot of genres. I'm getting into country music and some good rock at the moment. I also adore movie soundtracks and songs that are more than 60 years old.
And about this blog...
It's pretty much a personal thing. It's filled to the brim with my escapades, thoughts, stuff I make, and just plain observations. Random, really.
Hope you enjoy it!
