This is me.
Greeting you...

Oh yeah, just wanted to greet everyone an absolutely ROCKING NEW YEAR!

The new year is a beautiful God-given gift. Out with the old, in with the new and all those hackneyed sayings...

May you remain cool, find happiness, and throw the diet out the window (along with the over-achieving impossible New Year's Resolution). Not that I don't believe in resolutions; it's great that people would want to change for the better. I don't believe in browbeating yourself over unrealistic expectations though.

Cheers! I'm starting to hear fireworks now. I'm off to a party... :) Make your new year extra-special.

Alive and kicking

I'm BACK! :) Just finished a really really great conference (better known as Bible camp to some others) that lasted four days; it was beautiful, getting in touch with God all over again. It was also pretty tiring... Four days is definitely the right amount of time to spend in those camps; I'm exhausted from all the violin playing I've been doing lately.

I slept the first ten to fifteen minutes of every meeting, lol. Angel, my fellow violinist, and I never get much sleep in these things 'cause there are no other violinists to rotate responsibility with (you know, who plays with who in what meeting...). As a solution to the problem, we run ourselves ragged playing every session and joining every practice.

It was embarrassing to always be falling asleep. But we had an amazing time; the people in my room were hilarious.

Everyone had a picture taken outside the church (which was kind of hard since there were a lot of people) but we all squeezed in. My eyes were swelling this morning. OK, not as bad as those HUGE letters imply, but big enough as to not add to whatever non-existent charm I had in that picture. It was fun though. :) I'll probably post that picture when I get a copy.

Speaking of my eyes, I woke up at 3 this morning and realized I was getting an allergy case. They're heavy, hot, and make me look like a freak. :) I don't know what triggers all my abnormal reactions, and no doctor has ever really given me a straight answer, haha. Oh well... it's fun when people stare at you with your eyes running and sneezes coming eight times in a row.

When we (my sister and I) were leaving, a funny thing happened. I guess it just goes to show that we are all growing up and growing old. We waved goodbye at people as I took the keys out and got in the car... Nothing unusual at all except someone yelling "YOU DRIVE NOW???" A churchmate I hadn't seen in months (he was in China actually) was floored. He peered at me through the window then demanded a ride home. (Unfortunately, he chose to attack the door I always keep locked 'cause it's not automatic anymore... Sad, really.) Ah well... growing up is (add your personal philosophical quote here).

I have a feeling I've been writing too much. :) I will now stop while I'm ahead... or behind, beside, whatever... Just. Stop.

Teeth talk and old entries

With Mae playing on my headphones (their album "The Everglow" is really great), I settle to write another post. Haha, the only reason I can think of to be writing so many posts lately is that there's no school. I may also just have a lot of stress built up, and they're all coming out in words...

I just had to mention the dentist appointment yesterday. Nothing untoward, really (read: no cavities) but my sister had problems of her own (read: six cavities). Anyway, that's not the point. I only see the dentist maybe once a year so we have the usual chitchat.

Dentist: So you're in college now, aren't you?
Me: Yes, I am.
Dentist: What did you take?
Me: Chemical engineering.
Dentist: WHAT? CHEMICAL ENGINEERING?

Her voice rose in volume, seriously. She proceeded to say how hard that course was. Haha, reactions like those really amuse me. Not that I'm making fun of the dentist or anything, you understand... I like our dentist. :D

But yeah, I guess my course is difficult. God's really helping out though; it's comforting to know.

Christmas is coming quick, by the way, like a ticking time bomb. The only places I feel the Christmas magic these days are in church (it's Jesus' birthday, enough said) and with family. Look down the streets, and not even a parole blinks back. Maybe a lonely string of Christmas lights, but that's it. Sigh... Guess no one can afford to splurge on decor anymore.

The procession of parties coming my way will probably keep me from the computer for a change. :)

** I was just going through my old blog and the college angst in it... The memories... http://godlovesyou.blogs.friendster.com/that_girl/

Up and down moments...

Well, here I am again, clear-headed for a change. This is what I love about christmas break (summer break, any break): the privelege of sleeping at least seven hours a night haha. I frequently remember kindergarten days when my mom forced me to nap with the wise words "Once you're older, you'll want to sleep but can't so you'd better sleep now!" Well, Mother knows best, I suppose. It didn't kill me to say that... :)

My allergies are breaking out again which is freaking me out. I'm itching all over but scratching just makes it worse; I'm pretending I don't feel anything. Oh well, the things you get from your family's genes...

I did get my card reader to work though; YEY!!! *does a victory dance in front of the computer* Not that it was busted to begin with; I just had to read the manual haha. So here are some recent pictures:

Daphy (my sister), me, and May2x at a party last week. Hold your breath; this may be the only time you'll catch me in a Santa hat...

Haha, this picture shows how easy it is to make a fool out of me. Imagine the outrage and betrayal... Aren't younger cousins supposed to show a little respect? *puzzled frown*

This isn't a black and white dog, by the way. It's a stuffed panda with shades on. This is what happens when college friends decide to amuse themselves.

Speaking of college, Daphne (my sis), Elise (the friend I haven't seen in about five, ten? years), and I had a funny conversation as my mom expertly maneuvered the car around some college kids who were standing in the middle of the road.

Elise: College students are real crazy.
Me: Yeah, I know.
Elise: They have these parties where they usually drink and just do stupid stuff.
Me: I guess they have nothing better to do.
Daphne: Yeah. They could just read a book.
(Silence)
(Surprised laughter)

I mean, of all the things to say... :)

So it begins...

I'm peeking at you from the Forbidden City... :)

Hey!
I'm blogging again. It's been a while.
With all the mall marathons to get the perfect Christmas presents...
and the studying...
and pretending to be studying...
and the parties...
the church meetings...
"hanging out"s and "staying in"s...
it's been hard to put enough thoughts together to actually make a readable blog post.
Haha, who am I kidding? I'm just LAZY. Mind the capital letters... Either I'm serious
or I feel the post looks a little BORING without any colors and accents. I don't know which one I'm supposed to be.
OK, I guess that's it for now. I'll be quiet until I have something to say. ;)
